Collection and Processing of Organic Wastes

DSM completed a detailed analysis of the potential for the Twin Cities area to separately collect and process residential and/or commercial organics. The analysis included an evaluation of two large MSW composting facilities that had been idle for a number of years. DSM estimated capital costs for re-configuration of the facilities to process organics and market the resulting compost. A third operating facility was evaluated for needed improvements to enable additional processing capacity.

In addition, DSM also estimated the need for collection and transport infrastructure to client organics to these facilities.
